The anatomy of a game-ending inning can include big hits, important at-bats that may not seem so at the time and even mistakes.
When they all add up in just the right way, a team can erase 17 innings of negative emotion.
That's what happened to the Wingnuts on Friday night. Stymied for eight innings by three Lincoln pitchers, they got to closer Matt Hammons and scored both their runs in a 2-1 victory at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Vic Davilla drove in the tying run with a single to right field and Chris Colton won it with a soft single over a drawn-in infield, snapping a three-game losing streak and eliminating the Saltdogs from playoff contention.
