Another sellout crowd watches Wingnuts close out inaugural season

WICHITA, KS- The fans showed their love for the Wingnuts despite a dissapointing inaugural season, as 7,076 fans watched the Wingnuts drop their season finale 10-5 to the Lincoln Saltdogs on Saturday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

The Wingnuts held a brief 4-2 lead thanks to a three-run third that was keyed by a two-run Vic Davilla single, before Lincoln pulled away.  Davilla had three RBI's on the evening.  Kevin Hooper also picked up a hit and a stolen base, finishing with a league-best average of .370.  Hooper also finished second in the league with 34 stolen bases and was caught just one time all season.

The Wingnuts finished their inaugural season with a record of 45-50 but finished fifth best in the American Association, averaging over 3,400 fans per game, well above the average of the previous team, the Wranglers.

The Wingnuts will begin their second season in May and the full 2009 schedule is expected to be released in November.  The Wichita Thunder, meanwhile, will begin their 17th CHL season on Saturday, October 18th when they host the Oklahoma City Blazers at the Kansas Coliseum.  For season tickets or more information, call the Wichita Pro Sports office at (316) 264-4625.
